Alex Tucker

Contemporary Art and Professional Studies BA (Hons)

Alex Tucker struggled at school due to dyslexia and left with no qualifications. He came to Weston College to study a Level 2 Creative Arts and Media course, then progressed to Level 3, a UAL course and then a degree course at Weston, in partnership with Bath Spa University.

“I started at Weston College not knowing what I wanted to specialise in. The creative and media course offers a taste of so many subjects and I found the best one that suits me within the year.

“My biggest achievement while studying at Weston College was making the 7ft metal sculpture of a woman, which took six months to create. It was displayed at the College’s Summer Show and I loved watching and listening to pupils reactions, it was very rewarding.”

After Alex graduated he completed a six-week contract working at Banksy’s Dismaland exhibition in Weston-super-Mare, where he created a spray paint graffiti piece which was featured at the exhibition. Other pieces of his artwork has sold for in excess of £40,000 to buyers including The Stone Roses and Banksy.

“Words cannot come close to describing what Weston College has done for me. I am so grateful. I would not like to think where I would be now if I had not come here; Weston College has saved me.”
